19. So Feminine

So Feminine

You are the royal daughter of the king
with graceful sculpted legs and lovely feet,
the work of craftsman’s hands, bejewelled with rings.
Your scent is redolent, like meadowsweet.
You taste like blended wine, magnificent.
Your breasts are like two fawns, delightful twins.
Your eyes are wells of light, so elegant.
Your neck is beautiful, so feminine.
Your hair shines as a royal tapestry.
The king is captivated by your charms.
You are my love; I love you ardently.
I want to hold you close, within my arms.
The kisses of your mouth are sweetest wine.
The world delights in you, yet you are mine.”

(Ch. 7:1-9a)

Golden Tresses, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, 1865
